I had planned to write about the Korean drama Light Shop but while the drama was an amazing viewing experience, I unfortunately lacked the after-drama boost to write about it. When it just finished airing, it was too soon, and I didn’t want to spoiler other drama fans. Now, I find that I don’t know what to write about it and my buzz is long gone…
Unexpectedly, I am now writing about this anime Solo Leveling!
Solo Leveling, aka 나 혼자만 레벨업 Na Honjaman Lebel-eob Only I Level Up, is a South Korean web novel penned by 추공 Chugong.
I had just watched S1 in December, did not suffer a long wait, and resumed S2 last week… I soon found myself devouring the english translated manhwa / webtoon like a maniac… the english version of the manhwa is still in progress so I turned to the completed novel to satiate my need to know what happens after Issue 10.
Here is a story which has ended, so the anime is the ‘slowest’ form.
There are so many spoilers scattered online. At least now I am safe HAHA.
This post, is ‘safe’ up to the current episode of the anime, Season 2 Ep1.
What this post will have, is a list of the anime episodes and the corresponding english translated webtoon chapters ( which I bought digital versions of at a great price from Amazon ) so its easier for fans to find out which issues they want to read.
As expected, the anime seems to be the one that has the least ‘content’ while the novel has the most information, since this medium can have a better narrative support. Anime did cut out some scenes from the manhwa, which led to the disappointment of some fans, but in fairness it did add some scenes which the manhwa left out. I have yet to read the novel for the S1 episodes so I can’t tell if those scenes already existed in the novel or not.
Its worth noting that the anime is a very high quality production and I have and is still enjoying it immensely.
I was pretty shocked at the level of violence that hit right in Episode 1.
However, overall it was not as bad as Attack on Titan.
There’s some overlap between the episodes and comic chapters, since the anime is edited at some cliff-hanger moments but its close.

Maybe I will write my thoughts about the characters in the story later.
I love the world set up, the fact that the protagonist and his life is set in Korea. It was strange to me when the characters all had Korean names in Ep1, but I found out that the animation production decided to stay true to the novel and made it so for all global release except their localized version in Japan.
I am looking forward to the next episode releasing in a few hours!
