“The Game Is Progress”

Not sure if the tagline is being philosophical about ‘the game needs progress’ or the Opener somehow misunderstood the assignment and it should have been ‘The Game In Progress“.

I was not interested in Love Game in Eastern Fantasy at first because it looked like ‘just another’ transmigration story.

However, it turned out to be very charming, cute and extremely funny. It has its own share of obvious cliches and addresses usual tropes but its does so with a sincerity that is very winning.
10 episodes later and I am still looking forward to every episode.

A scathing review brings a normal office worker, Ling Miaomiao, into the world of a novel she had been reading/listening to over a weekend ( don’t we all know how precious a weekend is!)
Her unfeeling boss had given her an impossible work assignment to complete by Monday but now she needs to survive within the ‘game’ to even make it back out into her own mundane world.

In the novel, as the second female lead in the story, she meets the handsome second male lead, the ‘black lotus’ Mu Sheng, and the final mission she needs to complete is for him to like her 100% = fall in love with her.

Having skimmed through the novel, she is missing crucial bits of information and arcs so she cannot ‘cheat’ her way through the scenarios. Add the fact that she is determined to rewrite some ‘bad and tragic’ parts, the story now becomes very different from how it was written before.

What will be the ending? It better not be just a fever dream!

How will it all make sense in the end? Will it make sense at all? Will Miaomiao find her Mu Sheng?
