Shiqi made his way to the Chenrong army camp, where Xiangliu’s white outfit really stood out among the sea of soldiers clad in armor.

Still can’t get over a military guy choosing white satin robes over tough, dark armor; is this Xiangliu’s way to show he did not need to fit in and he did not mind standing out as a target?

Shiqi and Xiangliu have a stare-down as he announced that he is here for Xiaoliu.
Xiangliu did not seem shocked that a stranger managed to find his way into his hidden rebel base.

Hearing the commotion, Xiaoliu ran out of the tent.
Shiqi was angry to see that Xiaoliu seemed badly injured.

She was shocked to see Shiqi’s fighting power, but also worried that Xiangliu was going to fight him when his soldiers failed to stop him. She told Shiqi to stand down while she begged Xiangliu not to harm him.

Shiqi however showed no fear, and just announced his intentions like he was used to getting his way. Strangely enough, Xiangliu obliged and motioned for his soldiers to stand down.

Shiqi looked upset at Xiaoliu’s injuries, and used his spirit power to give her some first aid, which seemed to ease her pain.

Xiaoliu caught Xiangliu side-eyeing Shiqi and thought he wanted to ‘recruit’ him as well.
She cutely blocks Shiqi’s eyes and not let Xiangliu see him.

Xiangliu inexplicably turned away to hide his smile at Xiaoliu’s words.

Xiangliu allowed them to leave the camp, even though Shiqi now knew the way into his camp.

I didn’t think too much of it when I watched the first time, but its obvious now that Xiangliu was not worried about Shiqi being a spy even though his investigations was only for Xiaoliu and not this ‘servant’ who managed to get to his secret rebel camp.

That glare hahahaha

Interesting that Shiqi and Xiangliu are able to see that Xiaoliu is female, when Cang Xuan could not.
Must be their animal instincts hehe

Xiaoliu asked Shiqi how he found her but he just gave her the reason he went looking, as if he was worried she would be angry at him for not listening to her.

Xiaoliu and Shiqi hid in a mountain cave while Xiaoliu healed up.

I note with interest at this definition that spiritual power does not heal all wounds, and they reinforced that different grades of medicines will have different healing effects. This is so much more realistic and injuries have actual consequence because healing needs time.

‘every inch of you’…. Is that why Shiqi wants you to take responsibility for him? LOL

Xiaoliu shared some intimate details about her past, how she also did not talk much when she hid alone. Shiqi looked saddened by her story.

While Xiaoliu rested, the dependable Shiqi did not forget the reason they came into the mountains. He scaled a tall cliff looking for some precious herbs.

Just as we gasped when he lost his footing and looked like he was about to plunge to an untimely death, suddenly, 9 tails appeared and gave him a soft landing.
OMG so Shiqi is a fox deity? And not just any level, but the highest level, 9 tailed!

I like the little detail where we see Shiqi’s outer robes on Xiaoliu since her old outer robe is torn up and bloody.

Shiqi heads back to the cave and this earned him a thrilled hug from Xiaoliu.
Not only is he not uncomfortable with this, he felt himself moving to hug her back.
Xiaoliu’s rehabilitation program worked wonders for him.

He missed the moment after an elated Xiaoliu bounded up and they went home.

Back home, Xiaoliu did not say she got injured but just shared the good news. Shiqi just smiled indulgently when she said she found the herbs. 太宠了！！

She barely had any time to revel in her huge success of settling not only Pimply but also Skinny’s future marriage with this one trip.

A chubby bird flew to her window and tapped its tiny claws familiarly.
Xiaoliu panicked after she realized that this was ‘Chubby’ who is here to remind her of her new job.

Throwback to Cang xuan’s scene from the previous episode, we had seen a half moon.

Xiaolu and Shiqi had been in the mountains for her recovery, for almost 11-12 days, and Xianglu’s monthly ‘medicine’ delivery deadline will be in two days time.

Xiaoliu told Shiqi to be careful. He took her to mean be careful not to burn the boiling vat of poison and leaned closer to check.

She gently pushed his head back from the fumes and again, this unexpected caring touch seemed to startle him. His look is like, who is the fox here? 你不停撩我 !

Xiaoliu got on his back, hugged him, and now she touched his face…. this clueless girl, she did not realize what she is doing lol

Xiangliu’s mount Chubby is as chubby as his name. Another twist to Xiangliu’s cold and fearsome character, for his divine mount to look this criminally cute.

According to the novel, Pimply and Chun Tao got married a year later after they got engaged.

Cang Xuan’s invite got lost, since Nian RSVP-ed for him by tossing it into the fire.

Unexpectedly, another uninvited wedding guest showed up with his gift.

Xiangliu seemed sincere to deliver his own gift in person.
There was no real reason for him to personally come down by himself to remind Xiaoliu that he now indeed have ‘one more hostage’. Xiaoliu should know this, but half-joked with him.

The two immortals watched the festivities and had a little heart to heart.

Xiangliu seemed moved by Xiaoliu’s sentiments, and left after enjoying his special poisoned wine.

In the wide shot, we see Shiqi standing guard by Xiaoliu’s side. He must have followed them in right after they went into the room.

Xiaoliu was super peeved after Xiangliu enjoyed his poisoned drink.
She huffily started mixing a few more things into the bottle and started shaking it vigorously.

Shiqi followed her into her room with his usual calm demeanor.

Looks like our boy is starting to like this skinship with Xiaoliu.
Being obedient, he won himself more hug time. Is he a silly, earnest fool or just a crafty old fox?

Xiangliu and Xuan’s little war games continue, as Xuan’s spy sent a report back from Xiangliu’s camp.
Xiangliu seemed aware but let the spy go this time.

Nian have an altercation with Chun Tao, after the latter spilled some blood on her by accident.
Looking back at the footage, Chun tao was indeed at fault.

But Haitang is really the most useless handmaid/bodyguard ever. She is not alert to their surroundings and this is twice someone knocked into Nian here. What she does well is look down at others and mock them. She can’t cook or clean, or even make sure Nian can walk safely on the streets, what good is she?

Nian is a princess, its not like she only has one good dress. Instead of urging her to be gracious about the incident, Haitang was also rude to Chun tao. Money can’t buy class.

Back home, Shiqi brought back some flowers for Xiaoliu.
The little family have a cute little moment talking about Pimply after his married life. Little did they know, Pimply was about to come home after being beat up by Haitang.

Xiaoliu got worried about Skinny and Mu so she went looking for them.
She found them being humiliated in public by Haitang and Nian.

Nian refused to stop playing with them despite Xiaoliu conceding defeat for them both to get her to stop. Xiaoliu gets a hard look in her eyes and she sent some poison their way.

Shiqi used his spirit power and nullified Haitang’s powers. After they got spooked and retreated back into the shop, Shiqi appeared to carry Mu back.

Xiaoliu told Shiqi to back him ( her) up to block the ones coming for the antidote and leave the poisoning to her. He nodded in the affirmative.

Even thought they maybe ‘lowly’ people, Xiaoliu understood her family’s sense of pride.
She was willing to swallow her own pride before more powerful figures like Xiangliu in order to protect them, but she still wanted to try her best when it came to defending the pride of her family.
She felt confident that she can force them apologize to Mu with Shiqi’s help.

Xiaoliu waits in the clinic looking like a bad boss.
I chuckled at the showdown moody lighting as she sat in front while Shiqi sat in the back.

Xuan started off being polite but Xiaoliu wasn’t going to back down until Nian apologized to Mu.

Their first official meeting, Xuan and Xiaoliu.
And within ten minutes he sent the sister he was searching for 300 years sprawling.
Your karma counter starts from this point forth, Cang Xuan.

Xiaoliu turned expectantly towards Shiqi to cue him to take action.

But she was met with an empty seat where Shiqi was seated not too long ago.

Cang Xuan sent her flying with a strike with his spirit power. He apologized for using too much force as he did not know that for all Xiaoliu’s cocky attitude, (he) has very little spirit power.

As she laid there on the floor, gazing sadly at the empty chair, Xiaoliu slowly started laughing.

Xiaoliu refused to accept Shiqi’s explanation for hiding from Cang Xuan and Nian. She could not get over how he was not there when she expected him to be.

Shiqi followed Xiaoliu to the river but she wanted to avoid him, so she rather take a risk and went for a joyride with Xiangliu, who has appeared on his Condor.

In a beautiful scene, reminiscent of Harry Potter, Xiangliu asked Xiaoliu why she was upset. Was he there for the gossip? haha

Xiangliu, with his nine heads, seem to really understand what humans wanted.

After Xiaoliu got a bit too cheeky with Xiangliu, teasing him about his nine heads. He decided to bite her neck to put her in her place. Don’t ask me why her neck, ask him

In the past, when wuxia characters are implied to get hot and heavy with each other, the camera will pan into the fire… I suppose it meant 干柴烈火 : 比喻男女之间情欲炽盛 the burning desires between male and female lol
Quite mischievous of them to end the episode with this scene.

In this episode, we saw many sweet moments, when Xiaoyao starts to lower her defenses and begin to trust and rely on Shiqi.
She was comfortable with him, trusting that he will be there for her. That took a set-back after the incident with Cang Xuan.
Now she started an unlikely friendship with the fierce 9-headed demon instead.

But am I the only one getting that feeling, that Xiangliu is going to become the sad friend-zoned nice guy who comes to offer the girl company, lift her mood on his car flying bird, while listening to her complain about her boyfriend?

I must be recapping they wrong way because why are my posts all sooo long?
There are too many wonderful scenes and moments and I don’t know what to leave out!

Also I wanted to add more details to the scenes from the novel to provide more background.
