As everyone was chatting in the yard, a handsome guy stepped out of the house.

Xiaoliu could tell he is no ordinary deity, and was at first skeptic at his offer, but she relented after he insisted he had nowhere else to go, something she can identify with.

She pretended not to care, but she was already preparing licorice for him before he finished his bath.

After some discussion by the boys, Ye Shiqi is born that day with a gentle smile of joy.

Shiqi cheerfully carried out the chores around the clinic, and takes on Xiaoliu’s chores like washing up which she hates to do.

Mu still does not trust him, and he followed him out to ask him who he really is. He seemed satisfied with Shiqi’s determined reply, while we saw a snippet of Shiqi’s past, in which someone ridiculed him in public for being ‘nothing’.

Xiang liu, is introduced by various characters even before his character reveal.

A nine-headed serpent, his specs are quickly laid out – 9 heads, 9 lives, Chen rong’s military advisor, strong spirit power, brave and tactful.

Cang Xuan hoped that he can convince him to defect and work for him instead.

Mu is rejected by Chun Tao’s father, who said their dowry offered is not enough.

Back in the clinic, Xiaoyao is very happy that Shiqi has passed his test with flying colors, and rejoiced that she can finally start to enjoy life.

Her face is troubled when she overhears how Pimply can’t make his dowry. Skinny takes him out for drinks to drown his sorrows.

Before dawn, Xiaoliu sets off for the mountains to seek out some extra income.

Mu tried to talk her out of it, because of the risks of heading into Chen rong’s rebel army territory, but Xiaoliu assured him that all will be fine.

As dawn breaks, Xiaoliu trudged on in the forest.

She sensed someone around.

She asked: “Shiqi?” and a sheepish Shiqi appeared from behind the trees, where he had been following without being seen.

They companionably continue their trip into the mountains.

By the river, Shiqi had prepared everything for their little date trip.
He brought snacks, drinking water and even a handkerchief for Xiaoliu.
Xiaoliu makes an offhand remark about how lucky the girl he will marry will be, and he casts her a shy look.

Xiaoliu reassures Shiqi that she can take care of him(her)self.
She left Shiqi outside the marker outside the Chen rong territory so that she can catch feifei alone as it spooks easy.

She seemed a little moved when Shiqi offered to wait for her. However as she walked away, she said to herself that nobody waits for anyone forever.

Xiaoliu sings, a love song of a girl’s longing.
Looks like feifei’s animal instincts could tell that she is a girl, and it hopped out in no time.

Her song attracted another person standing on a cliff, with long flowing silver hair and white robes.

Xiaoliu felt sorry for the cute feifei once her trap is sprung.
She freed it but all of a sudden a giant eagle appeared and wanted to eat the feifei.

Sweet-talking and some well-timed poison took out the giant bird, but its owner was not affected by the poison she threw.

She ran for her life with feifei under her arm – I was wondering why she did not toss the feifei at another particular point while she was running, but she ran one round back to the same spot by the stream.

Xiaoliu was taken back to the camp, where investigations are launched to find out if he ( she) is a spy.
The mysterious man in white removed his mask, revealing a very cold and devilishly handsome face.

Shiqi is getting worried at how long its taking for Xiaoliu to return.

Meantime Xiangliu told Xiaoliu that he wants to recruit him to create poisons for him.
He gives her until the morning to decide.

Shiqi decided not to wait any longer. He has tracked Xiaoliu to the place where she sang for feifei.

Here, he summoned a sprite from the waters to lead him to Xiaoliu, and we get our first glimpse into this mysterious Shiqi who appeared to be more than meets the eye.

Xiaoliu is ordered 20 lashings and another 20 lashings for her daring to bring up three conditions for employment under Xiangliu. Talk about a horrible job offer. Good thing she did not ask for free dental.

She held her ground and insisted on one condition, even though he was about to order more lashings.
She insisted that she must stay in Qingshui town and not leave.

Xiangliu detailed Xiaoliu’s new job requirements, and laid down some terms and conditions.
Xiaoliu is a such a character that even after being lashed 40 times, she could still not take Xiangliu seriously and make a joke of his words, which earned her a hard step on her back.

Shiqi has located the military camp and he impressively fought his way in.

Xiangliu forced Xiaoliu to work for him, and made her promise to obey him.

These guys forged their own kismet with Xiaoliu.

Shiqi could have left after he recovered and they might not meet again.
But he wanted to remain with her. He did not mind being at the worse end of the deal.

Xiangliu could have sent the little physician back to Qingshui town after he determined she was no spy, but he chose to get her to make poisons for him. This gave him a reason to keep in touch. Xiangliu benefits from this deal.

I don’t know about you, but this episode revealed not one but two hot guys, and I am so thrilled about it!

The CGI in the drama is of a higher standard than the typical Cdrama, with more subtle execution than the usual bright and loud colorful magic. Xiangliu’s impressive eagle mount is also very well done, if I were to compare to another bird I saw recently in another xianxia hehe.

Xiaoliu’s love for her little family makes her take risks. She truly wants them to be happy, and gives her best.

Ye Shiqi’s puppy-dog devotion to her is also really sweet and she seemed to appreciate it. If she had been bothered with his company, following her around like a stalker would have been rather creepy lol
